Dr. Manish Kumar Asthana

MKA_ImageMay2016Manish Asthana is in Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur on a postdoctoral position in Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. He has recently completed his first postdoctorate from Mackenzie Presbyterian University, Sao Paulo, Brazil. He received his Doctoral degree in Life Science in 2013 from University of Wuerzburg, Germany. In 2009, he finished his Master’s degree in Cognitive Science from University of Allahabad, India. In June 2009, he moved to International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Hyderabad as a research assistant and in November 2009, he had been selected as a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Cognitive Science Laboratory, University of Hyderabad, India. In December 2009, he has been offered a PhD position in University of Würzburg. He has conducted research mainly in the area of associative fear learning and its modulation. The development and introduction of novel methods such as behavioral, transcranial direct current stimulation, and genetic was a particular focus of his work. Other highly interesting fields of research were investigations of early biomarkers for anxiety and related disorders, e.g. startle, skin conductance response (SCR), heart-rate variability, blood pressure, etc. for the assessment of early detection of anxiety or related disorders. Currently, he is in Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. He currently resides in Kanpur, India.
