Description

ABSTRACT

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum zeylanicum) has been using since the ancient period due to its medicinal values. It has antimicrobial, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory properties. Cinnamaldehyde and eugenol are highly present in cinnamon bark. Methanol, ethanol, and water were used to produce cinnamon extracts. The anti-microbial activity was performed to determine the microbial activity of Cinnamon zeylanicum by observing the zone of inhibition and thus the anti-microbial activity of the cinnamon extract was determined. The antibacterial property was tested against Esherichia coli (gram-negative), Enterococcus faecalis (gram-positive) and Salmonella typhi (gram-positive) by agar diffusion method.
