Prof. Dr. Salah El Deen M Mahmoud
Prof. Dr. Salah El Deen M Mahmoud is highly versatile research with more than 20 years of experience in conducting experiments in field experiments and laboratory work especially with (Medicinal and Aromatic plants). His current Position is a Professor of medicinal and aromatic plants and ex-head of Horticulture Department. Prof. Mahmoud obtained his Master`s degree as well as his PhD in field of medicinal and Aromatic plants. from Al Azhr University which is one of the oldest universities in the world that carried the ray of science and ancient herbal medicine about 1000 years ago. During his doctoral studies he worked on extracting and identification of different active ingredients from different medicinal plants. After completing his PhD, he gained a Post doctoral fellowship sponsored by Egyptian- USA Fellowship at Purdue University, Horticulture Department, West Lafayette, Indiana USA in 1992. Moreover, he worked in his current faculty as Lecturer from 1987-1993, Associate Professor from 1993 until
2009, Professor from 2008 until now. He also served as Head of Horticulture
Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Al Azhr University from 2008 until 2013. He teaches more than ten courses in Horticulture sciences for graduate and post graduate students (e.g. Floriculture, Biology fundamentals, and Medicinal and Aromatic plants sciences, Forestry, landscaping…ECT). He also is the Supervisor ofthe field training for the undergraduate student's since, 1990. He attended and participated in different conferences which concerning with medicinal and aromatic plants sciences in: Egypt, USA, Thailand, Hungry, Switzerland, Malaysia,
Porugal and Greece. He also is a main and associate supervisor for several M.Sc. and Ph.D. students in field of Floriculture and Medicinal and aromatic Plants. Finally he is a Super leader of training for national gardener's agricultural engineers since 2001. Moreover, he is serving as an Editorial Board Member aswell as a reviewer for many peer reviewed local and International Journals. However, he published different research papers in
conferences proceeding as well as local and international journals.
